Reading and membership

What is The Southern Sentinel?

A publication examining society, culture, and the consequences of public issues for everyday life. Launch previews are labeled and should not be mistaken for completed reporting.

Do I need an account to read?

Public pages can be explored without a reader account. An account is needed for features such as saving stories and submitting community contributions.

Are Silver, Gold, and Platinum benefits active?

The readership programme is in its launch stage. Displayed participation milestones do not automatically grant upgrades, premium access, vouchers, or class places. Check the current membership page for each benefit’s availability.

Contributing and watching

How do I share a story or request a correction?

Use the newsroom assignment desk. Reader submissions are reviewed before publication; submitting an experience does not guarantee coverage or establish that an allegation is true.

Share your story → · Corrections →
Why has my comment not appeared?

Comments and discussions are submitted privately for moderation. Publication is separate from submission, and moderator operations remain subject to completion of the site’s administrative setup. Do not post private contact information.

Why does a video show a privacy message?

External players stay unloaded until you permit external media in Cookie Preferences. An active Global Privacy Control signal keeps these players and personalization off in this implementation. You can instead use a publisher link where provided.

Events, advertising, and support

How do I register for a Symposium session?

Available events appear on the Symposium page with their dates and registration links. Check the event’s price, access, cancellation, and recording details before registering. The programme may be empty until sessions are scheduled.

Is business membership the same as reader membership?

No. The business directory and advertising programme are separate from reader accounts. Review the directory’s current offer and the separate advertising license before purchasing or submitting a campaign.

Does advertising influence reporting?

Paid placements must be identified. Advertising does not purchase favorable coverage or control editorial conclusions. Relevant institutional relationships should be disclosed.

How do I get help with privacy, access, or copyright?

Use the private request form. Requests go to authorized site staff for review; the form is not an emergency service or a live chat.

Earned reader membership

Reader membership has no fee. Business Partner Directory membership is the only paid membership currently offered. Everyone begins at Silver. Monthly engagement goals are Silver: 8 completed articles and 2 meaningful contributions; Gold: 16 articles and 4 contributions; Platinum: 24 articles and 6 contributions. A complete story counts once even across multiple magazine pages. Previews, covers, contents, ads, and credits do not count. Higher standing is subject to verification.

After one missed month, members receive one grace month at their current level. If the following month also falls short, the next month begins at the highest level supported by verified engagement, with Silver as the floor. Existing private notes remain available. Launch members are protected while completed reporting and verified tier administration are being established; automatic changes are not active.
