THE SOUTHERN SENTINEL / READER TRUST

Accessibility Statement

A publication should make room for every reader.

Our approach

We aim to improve access to reporting, videos, discussions, and events for readers with disabilities. WCAG 2.2 Level AA is a development target, not a claim that every page or third-party feature currently conforms.

Available features

  • A skip-to-content link and labeled navigation.
  • Keyboard-operable native controls on the policy and preference pages.
  • Responsive layouts, visible focus styles, and readable form labels.
  • A larger-text control on supported article pages.
  • External video players that remain off until enabled, with publisher links where provided.
  • A reduced-motion preference respected by the site’s added accessibility styles.

Known limitations

A full independent accessibility audit has not been completed. Caption, transcript, and audio-description availability varies across archive players. Some magazine previews use image-based layouts. Third-party authentication, checkout, and media controls may have limitations outside our direct control. We do not claim universal accessibility or certified legal compliance.

Request assistance or report a barrier

Tell us which page or feature is difficult to use, what happened, and the format or assistance you need. Browser or assistive-technology details are optional; a diagnosis is not required. Do not include unnecessary private health information.

Request accessibility help →

Requests are stored privately for authorized staff to review. Response time depends on available staffing; no fixed turnaround is promised. Before a Symposium event, ask about its particular captioning, materials, and access arrangements.
